Body Piercing Aftercare

Proper Body Piercing Aftercare

Body Piercing Aftercare should be taken as seriously as tattoo aftercare. Your body piercing aftercare will require some commitment, if you loose your monitor, you can cause serious infection and the need to remove the jewelry. Most piercers, tattoo artists will give as an aftercare kit, or offer more products you buy.

Most piercers now offer a product called H2Ocean, it is sterile and environmentally safe. It comes in paste form for tattoo aftercare, and as a spray to penetrate. The items you will need are as follows:

Body Piercing Aftercare* H2Ocean, or other antimicrobial agents approved liquid soap anti-bacterial (Again, do not use Dial or Neosporin as they may be too hard)

* Cotton balls or cotton swabs

* Small disposable cups

* Paper towels or a clean towel

When cleaning your body piercing aftercare, you first have to wash your hands thoroughly (2 minutes), never touching your body piercing aftercare or jewelry with dirty hands. You'll need to saturate the area with H2Ocean piercing, if you use soap you should saturate the cotton pad, or hot water tank. Gently wipe all traces of dried blood, or plasma that has gathered around the body piercing aftercare. You must then move gently piercing the front and rear to ensure it is properly cleaned. Rinse the surface of any soap, then dry with paper towel or a soft, clean towel.

Body Piercing AftercareOften, your piercer will tell you to soak your body piercing aftercare in sea salt. Place a small amount of sea salt in the bottom of a disposable cup. About ½ teaspoon. Then add hot water as hot as you can possibly stand on salt. You want to fill just over half full in a 5-ounce cup you want to reverse the cut right over the body piercing aftercare and keep it there for five to six minutes. This procedure generally works well for drilling, such as nipple and navel. If you are unable to obtain a good seal around the skin, soak a cotton ball with H2Ocean and keep it there for 5 minutes. Rinse the body piercing aftercare with warm water and pat dry. DO NOT USE TABLE SALT!
